Silver Spring, Md. -- Later this morning, arguments will be heard regarding the defamation case against Pete Buttigieg.
The court case came about after the Warren campaign, more specifically Jacob Warren, communications director for Elizabeth Warren, sued Buttigieg for claiming to have been shot by a member of their staff. The Warren campaign was able to sue under the grounds of public defamation and slander.
Buttigieg claimed that he was wrongfully harmed and that the Warren campaign is, “all about violence and blackmail and threats.”
In anticipation of the case, Buttigieg’s lawyers Miles Grovic and Emilie Vigliotta said, “We will do what we can to make sure our clients name is cleared.”
“We are feeling pretty good, we just want to get this all straightened out so we can focus on the election,” said Elizabeth Warren’s media strategist, Asha Henry. “This has been causing a lot of harumph in the media that does not need to be there.”
Witnesses are set to appear for both sides. Sarah Fillman will take the stand for Elizabeth Warren. Katrina Warren will appear for the other side and is a journalist who witnessed the aftermath of the attack.
A further look into the case and a debrief of the decision will be published later today.
