Silver Spring, Md. -- Kevin McCarthy, Ben Carson, Mitch McConnell, and Liz Cheney ‘organized’ this morning’s Gala for Life, if one can even say that.

The Gala was scheduled to begin at a quarter past eight and when the Daily Direction reporters arrived, there was a mess of politicians and press milling around, and no clear time when the Gala was supposed to start.

Pete Buttigieg and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez were in attendance, and were politely asked to leave, but both refused.

Kevin McCarthy and Ben Carson finally quieted the crowd and introduced the first guest speaker, Ted Cruz.

He began by asking the crowd to hold a few minutes of silence so that he could lead them in prayer. Lindsey Graham, his running mate made another religious reference later in the event claiming that if someone does not believe in God, they are “not American.”

Cruz’s speech included pompous statements such as “without life there is no liberty” and “abortion is a sin.”

Cruz called for a ban on abortions across the country and ending funding to Planned Parenthood.

As Cruz speech ended, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” began to play in the background and continued as Kevin McCarthy began his speech. McCarthy’s speech talked about his two children and described “equal rights for the unborn.”

After McCarthy’s speech ended, Buttigieg and Ocasio-Cortez were physically removed from the Gala.

Tim Scott gave the final speech of the event after contradicting statements about whether or not he would be in attendance. The audience was livid and shouts of “flip flop” could be heard throughout his passive speech.

When speeches were over, guests were invited to eat snacks that consisted of Capri Suns and a bag of Lays potato chips.

In an interview after the Gala, McCarthy said he thinks “the Gala went really well” and “[doesn’t] think that it was unorganized.”
