Lindsey Graham, Republican Senator from South Carolina and Presidential candidate, has decided to drop out of the race in support of the Republican candidate, Tim Scott, Graham’s fellow Senator from South Carolina.
Graham said, “After much deliberation and speaking, Tim Scott is finally a candidate that I can vote for and I think the American people should too.”
Graham had criticized Scott’s moderate policies in the past, and said that one of the reasons he decided to run and split the Republican ticket was because Scott is not conservative enough.
Scott has moved his policies slightly to be more conservative, as a result of multiple conversations between the two politicians.
“[Scott has] taken a stronger stance on abortion, a better stance in favor of climate, a more respectable foreign policy position, in which leaders are acting with resolve.”
Graham was offered an undisclosed position in the Scott administration, which also may have persuaded his decision in addition to the policy changes.
“He’s overall for America more, than just trying to appeal to a liberal base that wouldn’t have voted for him anyway.”
