Silver Spring, Md. -- In a report released on June 4, 2019, Special Counsel for the Department of Justice Robert Mueller declared that there was no clear evidence corroborating the allegations that Democratic nominee Elizabeth Warren was colluding with the North Korean government. These allegations came out last Friday when Patriot News Network, a conservative broadcast network, released videos accusing Warren.
The report shows that Mueller talked to multiple of Warren’s campaign workers, as well as various journalists. Mueller asked Warren campaign staffers Asha Henry and Nicholas Layke what they knew about the allegations.
“I cannot confirm that. As it did not happen,” Henry said, when asked if she remembered Warren making comments about establishing and prolonging democratic ties in North Korea. Layke, Warren’s foreign policy manager, also denied any knowledge of collusion.
Mueller went on to talk to PNN journalist Charles Thrush. Charles Thrush was suspected as the source of the allegations, and had information on what has happened.
“I do know that Kim Jong Un has been trying to tempt Warren using information and I can neither confirm or deny whether Warren has taken the bait,” Charles Thrush said when asked what he knew. When asked his source, he initially refused to disclose them, but eventually said his source was Kim Jong Un himself. Charles Thrush said that someone in the election process made a social media account for Kim Jong Un, but deleted the day of creation. Lastly, Thrush directed Mueller to talk with an anonymous reporter.
This anonymous reporter told Mueller that the account was made by PNN journalist Nathaniel Thrush, and also suspected Mueller of running the CAP Truther twitter account, a mysterious account that has disclosed information to various people. Mueller said that he had proof that he was not the Truther, and went to talk to Nathaniel Thrush.
Thrush said that he did create the twitter account, but he only tweeted two things before the account was deleted, and he never talked to anyone on the Warren campaign.
“It’s like, I was like ‘I support Elizabeth Warren, and also I’m so hyped for the new KFC opening in Pyongyang.’ And then I deleted the account ‘cause- ah, it- it was marked as a spam account,” Thrush stated. He went on to say that there are rumors that the account may be reopening. Thrush said that he did not know who was creating the account, and that while he had the account, he never had any contact with Andrew Yang, Warren’s running mate.
The last three pages of the report address allegations that Tim Scott’s campaign manager, William Thorne, has been collaborating with ISIS. This was reported to Mueller by both the anonymous reporter and the CAP Truther. The anonymous reporter also sent Mueller an image of a bank statement that indicated that Thorne was wiring money to ISIS. However, Thorne denied these allegations, an Mueller stated that he does not have enough evidence to conclude that the allegations against Thorne are true.
“The investigation is done. I have found no conclusive evidence of collusion between Senator Warren and the government of North Korea. I have found no conclusive evidence indicating the truth of allegations against Will Thorne,” Mueller said in the second-last line of the report.
“I have no definitive proof. I only have the information I was given,” Mueller said at the end of the report. Mueller’s report clarified that Warren is completely and totally clear of any allegations relating to North Korea.
