Silver Spring, Md. -- Senators Elizabeth Warren (D) and Tim Scott (R) formally announced their bid for president in the 2020 election this morning outside Washington, DC in a joint press conference.
Senator Warren began the conference with a passionate speech about persistence. She emphasized the idea that, “America survives for her persistence” but needs a leader to guide the country in the right direction.
Her platform is strongly built on the idea of putting economic power back in the hands of the American people. Warren herself understands the struggle of being a working parent and graduated college with a small child and a baby on the way.
Another aspect of her campaign is that she will not be accepting donations from PACs or corporations in her efforts to promise complete transparency to the American people.
Tim Scott believes in providing opportunities or a “path” for people to follow. He says that after the path is provided, “it is up to them if they choose to follow it”. His saying is forward and upward and this refers to the path that America will take if he is elected.
While Warren and Scott have officially announced their candidacy, Mayor Pete Buttigieg has made it clear he has intentions to run.
Warren and Scott are set to appear for a press conference on policy stances later this morning.
